Climate change is defined as “changes in climate as a result of human activities that directly or indirectly disrupt the composition of the global atmosphere, in addition to natural climate change observed in comparable time periods”. It is predicted that large migrations will start due to climate changes, 143 million people will be forced to migrate by 2050 only due to climate changes, and the effects will increase especially after this date.
The Sustainable Development Goals, declared by the United Nations, are global call to action to end poverty, protect the environment, address the climate crisis, share prosperity fairly and achieve peace. The goal is to provide a more beautiful and livable world for humanity and future generations. While the United Nations has declared climate change as the greatest threat to development, the World Economic Forum has described it as “a serious existential risk for our world”.
The report "Climate Change Through the Eyes of International Think Tanks" examines topics such as carbon footprint and measurement, mobility and electric vehicles, climate crisis in sustainable development goals, carbon emissions, energy efficiency and climate-friendly practices in agriculture. In addition, the relationship of climate change with issues such as trade, human rights, defense industry and health are also included in the content.
As well as the main topic of the study is the perspective of international think tanks on climate change-related activities in local governments, national and international strategic planning activities related to the issue are also included in the last section.
