What the World is Talking About

Details

  • This period, there are four important issues that are also the subject of our report cover. These issues are; the BRICS countries, the meeting of US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Chinese President Xi Jinping, the internal turmoil that began in France, and the small-scale rebellion launched by the famous Wagner Group in Russia. The BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) have started to be talked about a lot recently. Is the dollar losing its effect? in response to his question, the BRICS countries announced that they want to create their own currency. While the USA alone accounts for %24 of the world's GDP with a GDP of 25.46 trillion, the BRICS countries account for %31,59 of the world's GDP with a total GDP of 32.72 trillion dollars.
  • The US Secretary of State made a surprise visit to China last week. Tensions between the two countries had escalated during the Taiwan tensions, the economic Deconfliction, the Spy Balloon incident, the Ukrainian war. While a slight softening in relations is expected after the talks, it has been claimed that Xi will hold a meeting with the US Treasury Secretary in the autumn period.
  • The internal turmoil that started in France is actually a familiar situation in that region. France is a European country well known with the immigrants it has. There have been many internal upheavals led by the famous “Yellow Vests” many times before this. The events that started on a migrant teenager who was shot dead by the police in a French suburb, causing scene of many events like damage to public property, looting, etc. On the fourth night, the total number of detainees passed 1,300, while more than 45,000 police officers were deployed to respond to incidents.
  • The Wagner Group is a Russian-backed paramilitary group with a certain popularity on a global scale. The Wagner Group's operations abroad -for example, in the Middle East, Africa and Latin America- have been criticized by many people globally. The group is known to be involved in various looting and rape accusations in the countries where they conduct operations, was not expected that, they would rise up against the Russian army. The rebellion started by the Wagner Group with 25,000 soldiers lasted only hours. It was claimed that their main goal was not to overthrow the government, but only to show that they had significant power.
  • The decreasing logistics demand in Germany has raised concerns among transport and logistics companies within the country. In addition, the lack of qualified workers in the country has started to tire the sectors. The experienced driver shortage has also become the salt and pepper of the business.
  • In previous periods, Pakistan's dwindling reserves and even the danger of not being able to meet imports were constantly on the agenda. During this period, Pakistan is on the agenda again. Declining reserves, increasing imports, poor infrastructure, declining exports as a result of the lack of strong industrial enterprises are dragging the country into a crisis. As a last resort, the IMF program was applied for and an agreement was made for 3 billion dollars - 9 months of stand-by, but the final decision will be made by the IMF Board of Directors.
  • One Belt One Road project is a topic that is discussed, although not often. This time, it entered our agenda with a new project announced as the Middle Corridor. The Northern Corridor is not preferred by many countries because it passes through Russia because it is a sanctioned country. The Middle Corridor, which is a good alternative for those who do not want to use this place, takes Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan to its center. Of course, it is clear that a serious infrastructure and investment are required for the corridor to be created and put into operation. We will be eagerly waiting and following how the project will progress, just like everyone else.
  • Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov announced in a statement that Iran will become a member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. It is obvious that this situation will not please Israel in particular. It can't be said that it is positive for our country either. Russia and Iran continue to support Armenia during the Karabakh war and its aftermath. Iran's main goal is to develop and expand its relations with Russia and especially China as a member of the organization.
  • Our article, which stood out in the social field, was hunger and various social problems in Haiti. Haiti is a small island state that borders the Dominican Republic. While the country is struggling with a serious hunger problem, it is emphasized that it needs international assistance. It is a shame that this situation is not brought up. About 4.9 million people (almost half of the population) are on the verge of starvation. Gang formation, kidnapping, theft and bullying caused by disorder have exploded in the country. It is said that gangs kidnap people who are on their way to sell products at the market, causing many people go hungry.
