What the World is Talking About

Details

  • In October 7, 2023, the Izzeddin al-Qassam Brigades, known as the armed wing of Hamas, launched a large-scale attack against Israel in the morning and fell on the world agenda like a bomb. Some media claim that the attack was not known by Israel, while others argue that it was known by Israel and allowed on purpose. While the death toll is increasing day by day on both sides, the fate of the kidnapped hostages, the situation of the hostages kidnapped in the early days of the war is still unclear. There is a general prediction that the situation may get worse with the spillover of conflicts to neighboring countries. We hope that the clashes will end as soon as possible.
  • During the first day of October in Ankara, two terrorists carried out a bomb attack in front of the Kizilay building of the Ministry of Interior and two security members were injured. Turkey carried out air operations against terrorist points across the border to response to the attack. The United States is disturbed from Turkey’s cross-border air operations and warned Turkey that was threatening his soldiers stationed in the region. The downing of the Turkish drone by US forces in the region is seen as a response to this.
  • Climate change events are happening all over the world and their effects continue to affect humanity. The events, natural disasters and the heat force many people to migrate, bringing out the concept of climate migration. In 2022, climate change caused about 32.6 million people to migrate from the country. Opposite to the climate refugee, those who are exposed to climate migration are not only poor people, but also wealthy ones.
  • How safe are electric vehicles in terms of cyber security? It is emphasized that electric vehicles produced semi-autonomously or fully autonomously by various technologies, can be easily manipulated by malicious people. While the number of electric vehicles on the roads is increasing day by day, the fact that the world is rapidly moving towards electric vehicles in the coming period raises concerns about cyber security. Controlling electric vehicles by via remote internet connection can be allowing them to serve evil purposes. For this reason, electric vehicle manufacturers need to show their customers that they are producing reliable vehicles. With the increase in the use of electric vehicles, emissions caused by internal combustion engines are projected to decrease globally.
  • Last July, India, which has the world's most populous population, imposed a ban on the export of certain types of rice to prevent rising rice prices. It was thought that there would be problems in the global rice supply after the ban was imposed. On September 1st the ceiling price has been applied by Philippines, in order to limit retail rice prices. At the summit in August leaders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations agreed on not to block the flow of agricultural products and to remove the imposed trade barriers. South and Southeast Asia is an important region that owns about %58 of global rice production and about %80 of global rice export.
  • The report published by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) showed that international food commodity prices were generally stable in September. The report shows that the decrease in herbal oil, dairy products and meat prices was offset by an increase in sugar and corn prices. In September the FAO Vegetable recorded 3.9% decrease in herbal oil price compared to August. In September the FAO Sugar Price Index increased by %9,8 compared to August and hit the highest level that the FAO Sugar Price Index showed since November 2010.

Germany's exports decreased by %1,8 in September, while its imports decreased by %1,9. According to the data of the European Union for September, exports decreased by %1,2 while imports decreased by %0,2. While the US increased its exports by %0,4, it also increased its imports by %0,2. China, on the other hand, increased its exports by %0,5 and decreased its imports by %0,8.
